FireTour: the missionary journey to re-ignite the Church.

by Pastor Mel & Pastor Kye

Hold on Tight...
firetour
Hold on tight HopeCenter and Friends of the Believing Kind.

The way we "do" church is going to change radically...so that our Body moves consistently with the Head.
You know...
Jesus Christ?
The Way He spoke.
The Way He moved.
Who He cared about.
How He Prioritized...
How He Loved.

I've traveled through most of the United States, and I've learned what we call "successful evangelism" or "self-aggrandizing Christianity" in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri...isn't making a dent in the kingdom of darkness on the coasts. The men & women of this era want the presentation of results- and the production of what we promise.

In the words of a friend, this is where the rubber meets the road for us.

Either show them there is a way out of their trash heap and into God's glorious light (a.k.a. "Awakening")...or go home.

We must reassess whether Jesus is shining through us creatively, powerfully, and truthfully...and if He's being presented effectively & successfully to people in our metropolitan centers.

Are we freely and accurately portraying and conveying Jesus' Love?

Are we spending the money to package and move the Gospel in a way that blue collar workers, intellectuals, college students, and single moms of the post 1950's world can receive it?

Some of you might say "Well, I honestly don't care if the liberals or the politicians know the Love of God." But if we live in submission to the Great Law of Love (Love God + Love People, Matt.22), should we not be absolutely compelled to fulfill the Great Commission? Chomping at the proverbial Mark 16:15 bit to "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone?" Beginning in our neighborhoods, and then launching into everyman's atmosphere?

Christian TV shows cannot reach the whole world & auto-reap our harvest.

As I walk the streets of California, I saw desperate prostitutes and rich couples driving Bentley's.
Scores of people in China Town buying fresh vegetables next to a beautiful Buddhist temple.
Surfers catching morning waves, and skinny models at juice bars.
"Average Joe's" on their way to a Giant's game...shouting profanity.

And in the midst of this, an "Aha!" moment came to me.
I realized that most people outside of the Bible Belt don't even know or care who our faith "superstars" are.
I realized that our prayer groups and Holy Ghost Hours" are not the sole keys to awakening.
They are meant to be the impetus behind the awakening.
I realized that our boots are going to have to hit the ground.
And the imprint better look like LOVE.

Tell me, what exactly is all of this prayer fuel for...if we're not actually going to drive the car somewhere??
Why are we amped up when we leave church?
That surge of power has to be for more than just fighting ur personal battles and giving us an emotional "high".

Let us become less judgmental...and more World-view oriented.
Commission minded.
Love driven.

A friend in Hawaii said it this way- Battles for territory & kingdoms are not won in castles (or sanctuaries). At some point, if you want to take ground, the troops have to step onto the battlefield.

We have not won the war or realized our purpose because we understand faith, righteousness, healing and prosperity. Phil Driscoll said in 2008, "When I hit a high note on my trumpet or play a beautiful melody, I don't stop there. My attitude must always declare, I can go higher. I must go higher. I have not arrived yet!"

The problem ensues, Church, when we think we've done something special and have arrived.
Because:
We have a certain number of people in our churches.
Successful seminars.
Have become functional knowledge whores.
Or someone liked my song and sermon.

No, friend.
God measures success by treasures in earthen vessels.
Souls saved.

So, with that in view-
We have yet to "arrive".

Let's ask the Lord to help us to bring real experiences with His Love outside of our church walls.

Home, Sweet Home!

We FINALLY made it back to Missouri after a month on the road!! There is so much I need to write in order to catch up with the readers of this blog! For tonight, pictures will have to tell the story. Thank you for the prayers and support that sent us, sustained us, and brought us back safely.

Jesus said in Luke 12:49 "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and I wish it were already kindled!"

We are endeavoring to take the mandate and spread that fire top to bottom and east to west! This tour was a great start, but it is just that. A beginning. There are so many people groups to reach, and as you each set aside the time to seek the Lord, I believe He will show you the steps to take to light a match in the church AND the nations!

In just under 4 weeks, by the grace of God, we caught 15 planes, and landed in:

Chicago, Illinois
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Brussels, Belgium
Nice, France
Ballymena, Northern Ireland, UK
Paris, France
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Kansas City, Missouri
Dallas, Texas
Burbank, California

3 Nights of Fire in Belfast and Ballymena, Northern Ireland- The presence of God was tangible!

Sunday Morning Service in the Living River...
firetour
Those of you who intimately know the Holy Spirit will understand what is written in this blog. Some of it I am still digesting myself.

[1 Cor 2:14-... people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.]

I am posting this mostly so that I can reference it, but it was an important part of this tour- so it is here for you as well. I was in the middle of ministering to the people in Northern Ireland on Sunday morning, and I was stopped mid-sentence by the Holy Spirit. In my heart, I felt like Pastor Paul had something to share with his people. But the truth was, God has something to share with me! Here is the part that has been transcribed so far by Pastor Paul's administrator, Dr. Harvey...

Apparently, there was an impartation for me to receive in Europe!

WORD GIVEN BY PASTOR PAUL BRADY TO PASTOR MELISSA HARRIS ON SUNDAY  10th OCTOBER, 2009

PASTOR PAUL: I HAVE SOMETHING FROM THE LORD BUT IT IS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE IT IS FOR YOU.

DO YOU ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HAIR IN A BUN LIKE THAT?

PASTOR MELISSA: NO!

PASTOR PAUL: HOW OFTEN DO YOU DO THAT?

PASTOR MELISSA: RARELY.

PASTOR PAUL: WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO-DAY? I SAW YOU OLDER BUT IN LIKE A SEPIA PHOTOGRAPH. THAT YOU ARE, BUT YOU WERE, AND THAT WHICH WAS ON SHALL COME UPON YOU.

THIS  MAY SOUND LIKE A RIDDLE, BUT THIS IS WHAT I HEARD IN MY HEART.

AND YOU STOOD, AND YOU STOOD... AND WENT THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A LADY MINISTER UNDER GREAT PERSECUTION IN THE LATE 1800’s, EARLY 1900’s. AND YOU STOOD THERE IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD WAS UPON YOU, AND IT SEEMED TO BE THERE WAS A LOT OF HARASSMENT THAT WAS COMING AGAINST YOU. BUT NEVERTHELESS AS THE  PERSECUTION WOULD RISE, THE SIGNS AND WONDERS AND MIRACLES WOULD BE MANIFESTED IN SUCH A DEGREE AND TO SUCH A LEVEL THAT ALL THE WORLD SHALL HEAR ABOUT THE GOODNESS AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD.

AND THAT WHICH YOU HAVE JUST TALKED ABOUT (I was just talking about the manifestation of miracles in the earth again as in the days of old) SHALL BE YOU, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

LIFT YOUR HANDS TO THE LORD.  IT SHALL BE YOU, FOR WHEN THEY ASK SOMEONE TO STEP UP TO THE MARK TO SHOW FORTH THE LORD OF HOSTS. YOU WILL STEP UP NOW WITH BOLDNESS AND COURAGE. FOR THERE IS AN ANOINTING UPON YOU TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE TO THE BODY.

DON’T STEP TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT FROM THE CALL THAT GOD HAS UPON YOUR LIFE, IT IS UNIQUE.  SO ALLOW THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD TO USE YOU.

YOU WILL BE A PROVOKER OF BOLDNESS, AND A PROVOKER OF CONFIDENCE, AND A RESTORER OF THAT WHICH ONCE WAS, TO BRING TO PASS AND TO BRING BACK WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE.

MAY I REMIND YOU AGAIN WHAT I SAW, YOU WERE, BUT I SAW IS NOW, AND THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD SAYS RECEIVE IT NOW IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST....

This is all that is transcribed right now, but he went on to talk about the mantle of Maria Woodworth-Etter. I do not know much about her, but with the help of my friend Pastor Rhonda Rogers from Rhema Mexico, I am studying her life and learning by leading and from example as well.  May God get the glory again in this earth. Here are pictures of the service before this Word was given. I am keeping this whole morning before God in prayer. He knows how to bring it to pass.

I pray for you all daily, and I thank you for your prayers also. The glory of God is directly ahead.

I know we are being vague, but...

...PK and I will be sure to update you all on our life-changing trip to Northern Ireland very soon. Not only are we being changed, but there is a great wave of fire rolling through men, women & even children in this "wee" part of the nation! My goodness. Please stay tuned for more information regarding the past few days. Know that your prayers are not in vain, and we love you very much.

I know these photos are not much, but it is what we can provide at this time.

Keep shaking your city for the Lord. Our prayers are with you.

Friday Night "Flow"
firetour
Tonight we kicked off hopefully many Holy Ghost services they will have called "Flow" in Ballymena at Living Rivers. Pastors Paul and Karen started Flow to give the Spirit of God a place where He has free reign for as long as He wants, it whatever way He wants. Whether that be prayer, singing, teaching, praise...stillness. It is God's forum! And we were so excited to be a part of it!

From the moment we entered into worship, you could feel the tangible presence of God in the room!!! The worship leader, Brother John, sang "As the Deer", and you have never heard someone worship like this! When the notes of "you alone are my strength, my shield. To you alone may my spirit yield..." rang out across the sanctuary, we were elevated to a place of adoration that few have been to.

I ministered on "Firefall: Miracles, Signs & Wonders" and I can tell you that the Holy Ghost imparted fire in a way I have never seen! Many people received from the Lord, and the altars were full at the end. Even as the service ended, some still lingered at the altar! We saw miracles of healing, restoration, knees made strong, backs healed, on and on... They will send us more photos and testimonies later. Jesus received the glory tonight, and I am so thankful!

May His Love surround you!

The place of Revival.
firetour
It is quite a windy day here in Ballymena! Even so, we are excited to travel with Pastors Paul & Karen today to the original site of the Irish revival! These photos are from the prayer fields of Tawnybrack and Kells, sites of the prayer revivals of 1859. People used to kneel on the ground by the hundreds and drag their fingers through the mud crying out for a revival in their land! You can still feel the spirit of prayer lingering in the air today.

Great things are happening here in this country. We can't wait to share more with you when we arrive at home! Pray for an open heaven for us tonight. This is the right season.

The power of God is present in Northern Ireland.
firetour
We flew into Belfast today, and it was a very interesting experience. We cannot publish it online-  but just know that your prayers were needed and we all must continue to lift the rules and regulations in the UK up to the Lord. This land is "open" to the Gospel, and in Jesus' Name, it will stay that way!

Before service tonight we went to TGI Friday's  (yay! American Cuisine!) with Pastors Paul, Karen and Josh, and it was such a delight to be with them again. They have planted a new church in the center of Belfast, and it's midweek service was tonight at 8pm. The people are originally from all different denominations, but they are seeking the presence of God with all their hearts! There was quite a great legacy of revival in this area around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The stories just amaze me: groups of people used to meet regularly in fields to pray, and the Holy Spirit would move and convict many people of their sins for miles around. Massive numbers were healed here in outdoor meetings. There are many great books you can read to find out more.

Pastor Paul started out the service speaking on faith- and he said something that resounded greatly in my spirit:

"Prayer is not meant to be the ambulance for the church. We are not to use it just for a crisis."

That is actually a misuse of prayer. Paul instructs us to "pray without ceasing". Yet it seems believers pray "when needing." I encourage you to activate the power of prayer in your life beginning right now. Stop reading this blog for a minute and communicate with your Heavenly Father. Just tell Him you love Him. Let Him know that you appreciate all that He has done for you. Then be quiet and let Him love on you...

His message was great food to chew on. We all need a consistent prayer life. It is amazing how much more power will become available to us on a daily basis!

After that I was up to speak on Unwavering Faith, and then Pastor Kylie closed out the service with a POWERFUL illustration on how being "in faith" is actually a location in God. When we are in that location, it pleases God. When we are "outside" of the place we are supposed to be, or "out of faith"- we displease God because we are located in the wrong place. And we find ourselves outside of Him, AND His provision. It was a mighty word for the season. Afterward we had a time of altar ministry and people received healing and financial breakthrough, and we exalted God in praise! Oh what power filled that place!!! I don't have words to express what the Lord began tonight. Pastors Paul and Karen have built a labor of love in this region, and you can see that they have given their lives to bring these people into the glory of God.

We definitely look forward to Friday night's service!
Oh, and Pastor Kylie says: "Hi! Love you all! Go to our website and support this mission financially as God leads you!" Scroll down on the church home page if you want to give an offering.

A day in the country of Monaco. A night with the Youth of France.
firetour
What a relaxing day we had! We had Cuisine a la Maison (or a home-cooked meal) with Pastor Marie-Helene at a local restaurant and it was scrumptious. (A potato, cheese, and leek casserole if you were curious). Then Pastor Kylie and I set off on the train from Nice to the tiny but ultra-wealthy country of Monaco. We had a few hours to sight-see before meeting with the youth of the church in Menton.

After a 20 minute train ride and a little bit of confusion over which bus to take, we arrived at the Musee Oceanographique. We had walked past this museum on previous trips with Mimi Brim, but had never went inside. It is perched right on the edge of a cliff and is a tribute of sorts the oceanographic work of the famous Jacques Costeau. There were species of marine life in this aquarium that neither one of us had ever seen before! When we had our fill of fish-viewing, we walked about and saw the Grimaldi Castle where Prince Albert lives, and had a delicious crepe to snack on.

Around 7:30 in the evening, Marc the youth director picked us up to take us to the youth gathering in Menton.
I tell ya', the hosts- Frederic and Florence Alargent prepared quite a spread of food for everyone! You have never seen a feast until you see what the French call "dinner"!! 6 courses later, we were absolutely stuffed. (And in need of a return to our diets!) Pastor Kylie and I talked with them about our ministry back at home, Mark Hankins' message of joy in the Holy Ghost, and praying out your purpose in God. It was a great time in the Lord, and we had fellowship with them until almost midnight!

Here are some pictures from today!

Serge receives Jesus!
firetour
Today started out as a day of rest, and ended as a day of great victory!

Pastor Kylie and I literally walked all over Old Town Nice, and enjoyed a relaxing lunch of tomato & mozzarella salad, and angler fish in a tomato broth. It was excellent! But the highlight of our day just happened an hour or so ago!

For dinner (I know, it seems like everything significant happens around food!), we met Gwenaelle Quin from the church. The three of us went out to Japanese food (yes, in France)- and then walked to an Italian gelato shop. They have the most amazing flavors ever, with real fruiit- banana, mango, walnut, lavender, coco...it's amazing. In any case, we started walking back to our hotel, and on our way through the Place Massena we saw a street vendor selling beautiful oil paintings. Now, you have to understand that I have been looking for an oil painting ALL DAY, and could not find the shop we went to the last time we were in France!

Gwen suggested that we stop and look at these offerings, and though Pastor Kylie and I were both tired, we felt it was the right thing to do. The craftsman was very well educated in art, economics, and business. There were many beautiful paintings to choose from at a reasonable price. This place seemed to be a God-Send! The man spoke to us about his ideas on Israel being it's own country, the weak American economy, and the E.U. He started out very Anti-Israel, and Anti-hope. We explained that the Jews are God's chosen people, and that they are blessed to live in their land. Then he said that he felt the nations of the world were headed for disaster, and if the governments allowed a single monetary system to be the standard in every nation then we would never succeed.

I told him that I agreed with his economic/political view regarding the money, but instead of talking and worrying about it- I chose to spend more time bringing the government before God in prayer. In and of ourselves, we are powerless, but the Word says that the government rests upon His Shoulders [isaiah 9:6]. Political movements and revolutions have been started and sustained for a period of time, but the Word of God stands forever.

Serge (the vendor) listened intently, and then said that he agreed, but we would "see" if his way of trying to figure it out intellectually or my way of relying on God would prevail. I felt the urge to pray for him, and I asked Gwen to translate and ask him if that would be okay. He said "Yes, I can't refuse prayer from a pastor." He told us that he had been catholic for years, but did not go to church. Most people here feel that they are Roman Catholic by birth, but only go to mass on Christmas and Easter out of tradition. Before we prayed, Gwenaelle asked him about his relationship with Jesus, and he admitted that he did not have one.

But then he told us the most interesting thing. He said he had heard that Jesus was going to return someday and the church would go with Him, and He wanted to be ready for "judgment day".

Right there in front of the other salesman on the street, at midnight in Nice, we bowed our heads together and a new day began for Serge. He asked God to be his Father, and Jesus to be his Savior. And Serge said that when Jesus returns, he will run into His arms!!!!

Glory to God! Glory to God! The Light is shining in France. They say you can't evangelize here. But there is no darkness too dark. You must be in the right place, at the right time, in the right season. Lives depend on it.

Love you all. We minister to the youth in the city of Menton tomorrow. Please keep trusting God for an open heaven for us.

Here is a photo-journal of the day. Thank you for your faithfulness to God, and this ministry. We feel your prayers carrying us along!!

We win the war in Southern France!
firetour
Today was a very interesting day. We ministered at L'eglise Bonne Nouvelle in Nice, France for the Sunday AM service. This is one of Pastor Marie-Helene's churches also. We have visited this church with Lucy McKee and Billye Brim several times when it was located in Menton, about 20 miles east (on the border with Italy). There is a great group of people here- many who have been there for years and have grown up in the Word under this ministry. From the very moment we walked in, I could sense great warfare in the spirit over this territory that they are located in. It has belonged to the enemy  for centuries, and many people have been fooled by the illusion that the "French Riviera" is just a great vacation destination, with great weather. The truth is that many people here are spiritually dead, and there are not many churches here spreading the Word of Truth. For these pastors, there is a continual contending for the lives of the citizens of Southern France.

This is one of those places where you must hold to Ephesians 6:13- "Having done all to stand, keep on standing!" (paraphrase mine). As I was speaking with the Pastor yesterday, she revealed to me that in this spiritual climate, you cannot judge the success of a work by the numbers- but  rather the question, "How long have you been able to stand in this city?" There definitely is darkness in the air, and through discouragement and adversity, the strongman tries to repress the Light wherever he finds it shining. But Praise God, the weapons of our warfare are specific and they are MIGHTY to the pulling down of strongholds!!

Listen, brother and sister, we must pick up the churches in France in prayer. They are part of our body, and if one part is being oppressed, we all suffer. If we will join forces with them in the spirit realm, and press with them for a breakthrough so that there might be an open heaven for them to operate under- we will all experience victory! Pastor Marie-Helene has been faithful to this work since the mid 80's, and she has been called to do a mighty work in this country. Please remember to lift her up in your prayer time- that God will strengthen her and give her the supply of help that she needs!!!

It was a challenging environment to minister in, yet the people there received the Word with gladness! And they are going forth to be vessels of this awakening in their city. They have joined Heaven's army, and are willing to surrender all so that others might be drawn to Christ. Great seed was planted here, and I can't wait to see and hear of the fruit!

We will be ministering to the youth of the church before we leave France on Wednesday, so please keep that in your prayers. It is crucial that we snag this generation of young French men and women. God's truth  is marching on, and they are an integral part of His last day plan for this country.

Keep disturbing the darkness, and shaking your city! No matter how hard it seems, you Overcome every obstacle by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony!

in God's Love- [pm & pk]
